Meet the Team

  • Colby’s life began surrounded by creativity and craftsmanship. His parents were both artists and craftsmen who instilled upon their family the importance of hard work, dedication and staying curious.  Colby’s passion for furniture making began to emerge 15 years ago, prior to his decision to serve in the U.S. Army.

Colby’s dedication to service, and his desire to take the road less traveled mirrors the way that he approaches his life and career. Colby enlisted with the sole intention of attending Special Forces Selection, which has less than a 10% pass rate. As part of this process Colby completed Airborne School in Fort Benning, GA before attending Special Forces Selection at Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty). Colby’s journey continued in the Special Forces Qualification Course where he trained as an Engineer Sergeant which included many leadership training experiences, as well as Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Escape training, also known for its high failure rates.

After Colby’s military service, he founded a highly successful furniture design and build firm in Park City, Utah. He made the decision to start his business after he recognized a gap that existed in the high end design industry.  His dedication to precision and his work ethic attracted A-list celebrities, rock stars, elected officials, and Fortune 500 companies. As a direct result of Colby’s work, and his ability to connect easily with others, media recognition and international furniture awards soon followed.

With his resourcefulness honed in the Army and his natural ability to find gaps and inefficiencies,  Colby identified an opportunity in the interior design and build industry. After seven years in the     field, he made the bold decision to sell his renowned furniture firm and embark on a mission  to  disrupt the $500+ billion furniture industry.

Origin Story

Welcome to an entirely new category, ‘Highly Personalized Build-on-Demand Furniture’

In 2022, Colby St. Clair founded The Furniture App, a central database where subscribers can network, find inspiration for an upcoming project, source, generate products using AI technology, and edit them in real-time.

Colby’s life began surrounded by creativity and craftsmanship. His parents were both artists and craftsmen who instilled upon their family the importance of hard work, dedication and staying curious.

His passion for furniture making emerged 15 years ago, prior to his decision to serve his country in the U.S. Army, at which point his passion took the backseat to a greater cause.

After his service, Colby’s passion returned to the driver's seat.

He started a high-end furniture design-build business in Park City, Utah, providing luxury custom pieces for A-List celebrities, CEOs, elected officials and professional athletes, award-winning architects, and furniture designers, as well as some of the nation's best interior designers.

After seven years, Colby sold his business, making a successful exit, to launch The Furniture App.

Spending long hours back-and-forth with clients, searching for work, and late nights in the studio building furniture motivated his pivot into the start-up world.

The Furniture App is hyper-focused on empowering our stakeholders to design products exact to their clients’ vision, without the headache of the traditional lengthy process, thanks to our technological solutions.
